VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Kildare College we understand reconciliation to be the reflection on and acknowledgement of past injustices, while planning towards a future that cultivates respect and healing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as well as the wider Australian community. As a Kildare Education Ministries school governed by Kildare in the Brigidine Tradition, our vision for reconciliation promotes the values embedded and supported by our core values of Justice, Compassion, Hope, Hospitality, Courage and Wonder. A reconciled Australia is one of equality and opportunity for all as we continue on a path of acknowledgement, respect and unity. Reconciliation for Kildare College is a continual journey that builds resilience, and respect and celebrates culture.   Staff and students undertake learning to explore the true history of Australia, so our community understand the previous injustices of the past and recognise how this impacts on society today. Kildare College strives to provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students within our College community to develop a sense of cultural identity, personal leadership and future pathways through connections to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.   Kildare College collaborates with local community Elders, universities and other local education organisations to establish positive relationships with members of the local and wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
