Reconciliation Awards

194 schools and early learning services have added this Action to their RAP.

It is important to acknowledge students, children, staff and community members who are making an outstanding contribution to progressing reconciliation in your school or early learning service. This could include developing your own internal recognition system or investigating options for involvement with state or regional award programs available to schools and early learning services.

Shining a light on the collective effort of students, children, staff and the community in the journey of reconciliation is important for many reasons. It supports a sense of community and shared pride in what has been achieved, allows for outstanding examples of work toward reconciliation to be shared with community members, for individuals to be recognised for their commitment to reconciliation, and inspires leadership and future positive action toward reconciliation.

Perhaps more than anything, recognising a commitment to reconciliation highlights that fostering unity and respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians is essential to driving social and cultural change in schools and early learning services, and in the wider community.
