Opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students and Children

1274 schools and early learning services have added this Action to their RAP.

Schools and early learning services should provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to celebrate their cultural identities. These opportunities enhance the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and children, and create shared pride for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, contributions, identities and histories in the wider school or early learning service community.

Providing learning opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and children that promote a positive and strong sense of identity, belonging, and self-belief is important to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ and children’s learning outcomes.

Such learning opportunities can also have flow-on effect to the wider community by creating shared pride for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, contributions, identities and histories.
