VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Mount Hutton, our vision for reconciliation is that the relationship between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will be brought to a place of equity, dignity and respect.

We realise that reconciliation will only work if we actively embrace, embody and strengthen genuine partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As a community and individually, we will continue the journey of self-reflection and commit to deepening our understanding of the past and present histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe this continued learning and reflection will strengthen our understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and perspectives.

We will continue to develop mutually respectful relationships between First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous people at every level of our service. We are committed to being role models, all the while actively listening to, learning from, and embracing the leadership of, all members of our service community. We will continue to progress our reconciliation journey through a spirit of humility and a willingness to learn about the cultural insights necessary for strengthening mutual trust. Educators are committed to respecting diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and aspirations.  Educators will continue to develop respectful relationships with, and attitudes towards working alongside, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, families, children, and the wider community.

At Goodstart Mount Hutton, we will continue to respectfully learn about and embed First Nations perspectives throughout our curriculum and to ensure that our wider service environments and operations are culturally respectful and responsive. We will continually learn about and actively strive towards working more meaningfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and to ensure that our service is a place of safety, warmth and inclusion.
