VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Shirley Robertson Childrens Centre, reconciliation means honouring the strength, knowledge, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples- past, present, and future. We are committed to fostering deep respect and genuine relationships with First Nations peoples, ensuring their cultures, histories, and perspectives are embedded meaningfully into everything we do. Our learning environment is shaped by the voices, experiences, and knowledges of First Nations families, educators, and communities, creating a space where all children grow with a true understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  We believe First Nations cultures and perspectives must not only be embedded but actively championed and celebrated.  Through truth-telling, cultural learning, and inclusive practice, we will ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, identities, and contributions are recognised as central to our shared story. We strive to build a future where all children, families, and educators acknowledge  First Nations peoples cultures as a vital and living part of society.  By actively listening, learning, and reflecting, we will continue to take meaningful steps on our reconciliation journey- ensuring that our centre is a place where truth-telling, respect, and equity are lived values that shape the future for all children.
