VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision at Bradbury Preschool demonstrates our commitment to achieving a reconciled Australia; creating and maintaining a community that embraces respectful relationships between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We endeavor to promote cultural responsiveness, acknowledgement of, engagement with, and ownership of our shared histories.

We are committed to achieving a community of respect, equity and equality where the Traditional Custodians’ histories and perspectives are respectfully embedded and interwoven into the Preschool program. We respect and acknowledge the unique spiritual connections that First Nations peoples have to the Land on which our Preschool is situated. This serves as a guide as we learn from First Nations peoples about their connections with Country.

We are committed to gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ways of knowing and being. We endeavour to regularly reflect on and respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives whilst gaining continuous input from family and community members, to ensure our pedagogical practices are reflective and respectful in our teachings. We strive to ensure that all children and families feel a sense of belonging with a strong connection to our preschool community.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children, are recognised and respected as the creators, thinkers, and activists of today and tomorrow. We commit to Bradbury Preschool being continually recognised and acknowledged as a safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, Elders and community members.
