VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Early Learning Kedron, reconciliation means bringing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the non-Indigenous people  together fostering mutual respect, understanding and connection. We honour the enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples particularly in education, recognising their deep significance and the rich pedagogies that have shaped learning long before our centres story began. Our vision for reconciliation is a future in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are acknowledged, respected, and celebrated as the First  Peoples of Australia.  We will continue to nurture a learning community that acknowledges and respects the wisdom and knowledge of Elders  Traditional Custodians and emerging leaders.   For us, reconciliation is about living harmoniously and working together to build a more inclusive and respectful society. Within our centre, we are committed to honouring and celebrating the diverse cultural heritages of all families. We intentionally weave learning experiences into our programs that reflect the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, ensuring every child feels valued, respected, and included. We are dedicated to strengthening our relationships with the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our centre stands the Yuggera and Turrbal Peoples. We also seek meaningful engagement with Elders, educators, families, and diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the country. By deepening our understanding of our roles in reconciliation and sharing this knowledge with our children, we envision a future where our centre actively contributes to a society free from racism, fostering a vibrant, connected, and respectful community for all.  We strive to create an environment in our community that first nations children and families are seen, heard and celebrated, using our environments around us to storytell, connecting to country.
