VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation at Yule Brook College is all about our focus to raise the bar, close the gap and create equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, as well as opportunities for all members of our college community to learn about and act towards reconciliation. Our approach of 'one student at a time' is the foundation of our vision. Accordingly, the college provides equal and equitable educational opportunities to all students and appreciates, respects and values the extraordinary positions of the local Noongar Peoples and their ongoing contributions to the community. We also acknowledge and respect all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the communities of which students and families are connected and acknowledge that the First Peoples  have continued to be connected to Lands across Australia for 65 000+ years. We work towards reconciliation through: understanding and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.  respectfully including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our school environments and learning (curriculum and teaching practice).  supporting and providing opportunities for active involvement by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in school activities.  engaging all students in high quality programmes focused on learning about, and demonstrating respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.   providing equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to educational outcomes and proudly see their cultures represented within the wider school and community.
