Our vision for reconciliation at Belfield Montessori Academy is to enrich, enlighten, and further educate all educators, families, and children within our center to foster a strong sense of understanding and respect for First Nations peoples. We are committed to providing experiences that broaden children’s, families’, and educators’ knowledge of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives. We encourage active participation in connecting the home, the center, and the community in this journey of reconciliation.
Our vision extends beyond the program itself. We envision a future where reconciliation is an integral part of our center's ethos and pedagogy. We will embed the principles of respect, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness into our daily practices, ensuring that every child, family, and educator feels a deep sense of belonging and connection. We commit ourselves to deepening relationships with the Lad Bediagal People built on mutual respect, collaboration, and reconciliation. We recognise the significance of acknowledging their sovereignty and working towards a shared future that acknowledges and respects their cultural heritage and rights.
As we move forward, we acknowledge that the process of reconciliation is ongoing. We pledge to continue educating ourselves and the local community about the histories and cultures of, and ongoing impacts of colonisation on, the Lad Bediagal People and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
