At Brighthouse Early Learning Kilmore, our vision for reconciliation is about unity and respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We believe in strengthening partnerships, supporting collaboration, and actively acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our centre stands. We respect the Taungurung people’s heritage and value equity and equality for all Australians, especially First Nations peoples.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) represents our commitment to becoming an organisation where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children feel supported and respected. In alignment with our RAP commitments, Brighthouse is committed to providing culturally inclusive practices and the development of respectful relationships with First Nations community members.
We will provide an environment that acknowledges the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and respectfully embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and histories into our everyday practices.
Reconciliation is a process; a process that acknowledges the past, understands the present, and continues to strive for a future based on recognition of shared and unique rights. Brighthouse is committed to providing quality education and care for all children and families, and we recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, children, and families.
We will continue to ensure our curriculum actively recognises and understands the unique needs, interests, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, children, and their families. Our journey towards reconciliation is ongoing, and we look forward to continuing our efforts.
