VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation begins with acknowledging the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which St John Bosco School is located, lLand that was never ceded.

We are committed to fostering a spirit of reconciliation and understanding and we respectfully stand together with all First Nations peoples. We honour the rich histories and vibrant cultures of the Kaurna people.

Our vision for reconciliation is inspired by our Catholic Ethos and the teachings of Saint John Bosco. We are dedicated to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all First Nations children, educators, and families and everyone who is connected to our school community.

We envision a teaching and learning environment that is culturally inclusive, where the aspirations of First Nations children and all children are nurtured, diversity is celebrated, and equal and equitable opportunities are provided to achieve the highest possible outcomes for all children. We commit to respectfully incorporating First Nations perspectives throughout our curriculum and our daily interactions.

Our reconciliation efforts are guided by our core values:

Belonging: We are part of a school family; we welcome and respect each other.  Service: We give to others, contribute positively to the community, and show our care for one another, living things and the environment.  Loving-Kindness: Through love, we share kindness and joy, and we are grateful.  Excellence: We strive for our best in all we do.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering respect, justice, and cultural understanding, in alignment with our school values. We are dedicated to achieving and maintaining long-term reconciliation outcomes within our community. This commitment will be realised through ongoing engagement with staff, children and families and by strengthening relationships between First Nations people and the broader community.
