At Bungalow OOSH, we are committed to a shared vision of reconciliation, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, perspectives, and knowledge are deeply respected, embraced, and meaningfully embedded into all aspects of our daily practices and philosophy.
We believe that creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment begins with acknowledging and valuing the wisdom and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We actively strive to build and nurture strong, respectful, and ongoing relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, and families. These relationships help guide our understanding and inform our approach as we work towards a more inclusive and unified future.
Through collaborative and reflective learning, we aim to provide a space where children are encouraged to explore and appreciate the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of the world’s oldest continuous cultures. We want all children to develop a strong sense of cultural awareness, empathy, and respect, empowering them to become thoughtful and inclusive members of the wider community.
We continue to honour the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our service is located. We teach children and families to recognise and respect this connection, and to reflect on what it means to live and learn on Dharawal Country.
Our commitment is reflected in our learning environments, which are enriched with culturally inclusive spaces and resources that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. This approach ensures that reconciliation is not a one-off gesture, but a living practice woven into the heart of our service and community.
