VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our Commitment to Reconciliation

At Milestones Early Learning Blair Athol, we acknowledge the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, work, and play. We recognise and respect the deep connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, and community, and we honour Elders past, present, and emerging.

We are committed to walking the path of reconciliation by building respectful relationships and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all areas of our service. This includes incorporating cultural knowledge, histories, and practices into our daily routines, curriculum, and environments in ways that are meaningful and respectful.

Our vision is to create a space where all children, families, educators, and visitors feel a strong sense of Being, Becoming, and Belonging. We want children to grow up with a clear and honest understanding of Australia’s shared history, including the ongoing impacts of colonisation, and how this shapes our future.

Educators will be supported to confidently embed inclusive practices and work in partnership with the community to ensure all voices are heard and valued. Children will be given opportunities to engage with Dharawal language and culture in ways that promote understanding, respect, and connection.

We are committed to continuous learning and reflection, ensuring our approach to reconciliation is not tokenistic but deeply embedded in everything we do. Leadership and educators will stay informed on current issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and advocate for equity, truth-telling, and cultural safety.

As active members of the community, we will work together to build a fair, inclusive environment where everyone—regardless of background—feels valued, supported, and empowered.
