Here at Goodstart Prospect Vale, we recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples of Australia and as the Custodians of the Land on which live and work. Our vision for reconciliation is to promote an inclusive and culturally responsive society that offers the equal and equitable rights for everyone to learn, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We continue to lay the foundations for present and future generations to value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories and heritages as a part of a shared Australian identity. We acknowledge the ongoing barriers for First Nations peoples of Australia since colonisation, especially here in Tasmania and work towards healing by seeking justice for past and present wrongs. We are committed to fostering an inviting, safe and supportive community where all people are heard, respected and recognised as having the right to equal and equitable outcomes and opportunities. We acknowledge the ongoing connection that Traditional Custodians have with the Land of this place we now call Tasmania on which our early learning environment stands. We respect and value the cultural insights that we gain as we continue growing strong relationships between Goodstart Prospect Vale, the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the children, families, and the wider community. We will continue to seek opportunities to engage with, and learn about, the continuing cultures of First Nations peoples' languages, rich traditions of storytelling and their care and knowledge of Country. We are inspired to create a community that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social justice, equality and equity as we strive to improve high quality, culturally safe early learning experiences for all children and spread our knowledge to families and beyond.
