VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We at Sparrow Early Learning Tewantin vision for reconciliation is to better understand the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been connected to this Land for thousands of years, it is our duty of care to learn about their rich and diverse cultures of First Nations peoples and to respectfully teach about this knowledge to the children, families and the wider community. We are dedicated to building a nation that cultivates respectful connections between the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the broader Australian society. We aim to promote equity, equality, peace, and togetherness.

We come to our reconciliation journey with developing knowledge, and are dedicated to continuing our collaborative exploration, discovery, and learning with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as we embark on our reconciliation journey. We are committed to fostering connections that recognise the diversity and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, languages, and spiritual connections.

We recognise the Traditional Custodians of the Land where we play and learn, and we extend an invitation to the people in our community to join us on our educational journey towards reconciliation. We will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and contributions into the children's learning, and respectfully integrate Gubbi Gubbi knowledges into our service.
