VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At the Prince Charles Hospital Early Education Centre, our vision for reconciliation is not a new initiative, but rather a deep-rooted commitment that has been embedded within our community values for some time. We understand the importance of having a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in place, and we actively work to ensure that this vision is not just a statement, but a living practice. Our early learning community continues to grow in its collective commitment to learning about and participating in reconciliation efforts, with a strong focus on deepening our understanding of First Nations peoples’ cultures, histories, and the ongoing impacts of colonisation.

This journey is one of collaboration, where we work together with staff, families, children, and the wider community to strengthen our relationships with First Nations peoples. We recognise that reconciliation is not only about understanding the past but also about creating meaningful change for the future. As a result, we are committed to fostering an environment that promotes respect, understanding, and partnership with local First Nations communities.

Central to our vision is the respectful embedding of a culturally rich, diverse, and inclusive learning environment. This environment is designed to promote equal and equitable opportunities for all children, ensuring that every child’s identity, culture, and background are acknowledged and respected. We believe that by offering an inclusive learning space, we are not only creating a sense of belonging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children but also providing all children with the tools they need to grow as empathetic, informed, and engaged citizens of the world.
