Bracken Ridge Community Kindergarten recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the injustices on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since colonisation and the impact that this has had over many generations and continues to have. We further acknowledge that this forms part of the history of this country. Our vision for reconciliation is for our kindergarten to acknowledge and respect the significance of place, cultures, rights and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We aim to create sustainable actions in our kindergarten that continue to develop our awareness of Aboriginal cultures and Torres Strait Islander cultures; with the guidance of community members, Elders, families and community partners. We build respectful relationships with, and learn from, the Turrbal people as the Custodians of the Land on which our kindergarten is situated. We aim to provide an inclusive Early Childhood Service where we continue to develop our awareness of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We aim for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to feel respected and culturally safe at the kindergarten. We aim to respectfully acknowledge, respect and integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and histories within everyday practice.
