VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

San Remo Preschool vision for reconciliation is where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised, respected, and celebrated as the First Peoples of this Land. We are situated on the unceded Lands of the Bunurong People, and we honour their enduring connection to Country, waters, and skies. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present, and acknowledge the strength, resilience, and ongoing contributions of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

We imagine a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families have the same opportunities as all Australians to live with safety, pride, wellbeing, and hope. We believe every child should grow in a community that embraces fairness, inclusion, and respect.

Our commitment to reconciliation is ongoing, and through our actions we respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, voices and perspectives into our daily practices and our curriculum in meaningful, respectful ways. We strive to create culturally safe and inclusive spaces where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families feel welcomed, supported, and valued. We prioritise cultural connections, identity, and belonging.

We support a culturally competent workforce by encouraging and engaging in continuous learning and reflection. We seek authentic guidance from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, building relationships locally grounded in respect, reciprocity, and trust and collaboration.

Reconciliation is central to how we educate children. By walking together with courage, empathy, and hope, we commit to nurturing our future generation who will carry respect, unity, and understanding into the future.
