Hawthorndene Primary School’s vision for reconciliation is for the community and students to value, acknowledge, understand, and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' histories and cultures. We are committed to creating a learning environment that is culturally safe for all, where students are taught an authentic history that includes truth-telling and reflection on our past, present, and future. We aim to foster an understanding of racism and its impact on everyone.
We will respectfully embed and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' perspectives into key learning areas and integrated units of work throughout our school. Our commitment extends to fostering authentic relationships between the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and the school community. We will continually reflect on and develop our knowledge and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, cultures, and histories.
