St Marys Anglican Girls School is committed to the journey towards reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people. This is manifest in the many ways that are outlined in our Reconciliation Action Plan. We recognise that the school is situated on the Lands and waters of the Whadjuk Noongar people and that they remain the spiritual and cultural Custodians of those Lands and waters. We also recognise that Australias First Nations peoples represent the longest unbroken culture in human history. Â We also acknowledge that reconciliation is a journey, and that we have a long way to go. First Nations People represent some of the most disadvantaged people in the world due to colonisation. There are many complex reasons for this, but the reality is that we, as a nation, are still working to close the gap. St Marys Anglican Girls School recognises and commits through this Reconciliation Action Plan to do the work that is needed for a deeper conciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all Australians. We seek, through this Plan, to apply our Mission, Purpose and Values, under our Five Strands, to our vision for reconciliation. We commit to the work that is required and we pray, as an Anglican school, for the healing, wholeness and hope that such actions will bring.Â
