At Little Lane Manly, our vision for reconciliation is to create and sustain a culturally safe space where the perspectives, histories, and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respectfully embedded within our curriculum, physical environments, and everyday practices. We believe reconciliation begins at a grassroots level through genuine cultural practice, learning, and reflection. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and recognise that Little Lane Manly is located on Guringai Country, the Land of the Garigal people. We honour this Land as a place where we play, learn, and teach. We recognise the importance of the ongoing cultural, spiritual, and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge the role our reconciliation journey plays in supporting the continuation of these practices. Through the implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are committed to supporting our educators, children, and wider community to develop a deeper understanding of Australia's true histories and the intergenerational trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since colonisation. We do this by creating meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection, and engagement grounded in respect and truth-telling. At Little Lane Manly, we strive to foster an inclusive and culturally safe environment where everyone is valued and where collaboration with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is encouraged and respected. We are committed to ongoing learning and action, continually challenging ourselves to strengthen our cultural competence in ways that are authentic, respectful, and tangible.
