VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Explorers Early Learning Williamstown acknowledges the Yalukit Willam people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn, and we are committed to reconciliation, as well as increasing our awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their cultures.  We accept the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and strive to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as strong and courageous allies — listening with respect and openness.  We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have upheld children’s rights and fostered teaching and learning on Country for thousands of generations, and are committed to deepening our understanding of the stories, histories, and living traditions of this land, and to sharing this learning respectfully with our children, families, and community. We aim to achieve this through our commitment to professional learning and seeking to make connections and respectfully gain advice, from Elders within our community who choose to share their knowledge and teach us about their cultural heritages, customs and traditional ways.  We accept the invitation to embrace the Statement from the Heart and to be strong, courageous allies in the quest to hear the voices of First Nations peoples.
