VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Kids Academy Kensington, reconciliation means acknowledging, respecting, and actively promoting the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In our early learning context, reconciliation is about embedding these values into our everyday practice, environments, and learning programs. We see reconciliation as an ongoing journey that requires respectful relationships, and meaningful engagement with First Nations communities. Importantly, it requires our educators to build the cultural knowledge and confidence necessary to teach and support the next generation in understanding and valuing our shared history.

Our service is committed to reconciliation, as we believe all children deserve to grow up in a country that embraces equity, diversity, and cultural respect. As early childhood educators, we play a critical role in shaping the attitudes and understandings of young minds. We commit to ongoing work that includes building connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and/or organisations to shape our vision for reconciliation. Their voices guide us in understanding how we can best reflect culture through authentic storytelling, inclusive environments, language, and meaningful connections to Country. We view Reconciliation, not as a destination, but a lifelong journey that requires action and unity.
