VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision at Oakville Preschool Learning Centre for reconciliation is to promote respect, trust and positive relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe that through exploring and fostering the five critical dimensions of race relations, equality and equity, unity, institutional integrity and historical acceptance, we can teach our children and community a true, holistic and comprehensive approach to reconciliation. A reconciled Australia looks respectful, peaceful and harmonious. It feels clean, happy and honest and allows the community to grow as one. We have a very strong community at Oakville Preschool Learning Centre and hope to continue to strengthen our community as we promote reconciliation throughout our service through embedding practices of reconciliation. As a service we would like to regularly seek advice from local Elders and continue to build and strengthen those important relationships to broaden our knowledge and understanding of our service and community. We are very strongly inspired by our community and families to support reconciliation throughout our service. We feel as a service it is not only important to pay our respects, but to teach our future generations and community about the importance of culture, acceptance and unity. We strive to develop this through fostering the five critical dimensions towards reconciliation and continuing to strengthen our approach with Traditional Custodians and the broader community.
