VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Woodburn - Evans Head Preschool, we envision a learning community where reconciliation is not a destination, but a living journeyone that is deeply rooted in truth telling, healing, and respectful relationships. We honour the Bandjalang people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, play, and grow, and we commit to walking alongside our local Aboriginal communities in authentic partnership. We believe early education holds the power to shape an inclusive societyone that celebrates diversity, nurtures well-being, and fosters equal opportunities for all. Our preschool is a culturally safe space where every child, family, and educator is respected, supported, and empowered to thrive. We embed Indigenous perspectives meaningfully and respectfully through song, story, language, and daily rituals, guided by the wisdom and presence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices on our team. We learn on Country, connect with community, and uphold high expectations for growth, personal development, and lifelong learning. Our trauma-informed approach ensures that healing and understanding are central to our practice. We advocate fiercely for equity, continually reflecting, learning, and implementing change that matters. We celebrate the uniqueness of every jarjum, embracing their identity and fostering pride in our shared Aboriginal history and culture. Together, we build and maintain strong relationshipsgrounded in respect, advocacy, and collaborationwith families, educators, and custodians. We are committed to being a voice in our community, promoting reconciliation through action, education, and love for the land and its stories. Woodburn - Evans Head Preschool stands united in our vision: to nurture a generation of children who grow up knowing the truth, feeling connected, and believing in the power of reconciliation.
