VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is for the Townsville Grammar Early Education community to embrace unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. We aspire to foster a national culture that represents equality and equity, acknowledges and accepts our shared histories, and strengthens respectful race relations. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds, and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by meaningful and respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Townsville Grammar Early Education Centre sits on Bindal and Wulgurukaba Land, and we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as enduring, living cultures. We respect and value the cultural insights gained through building strong relationships with children, families, and communities. Our vision is to show respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Lands, cultures, spirituality, and traditions, and to ensure these are celebrated within our daily practice. Our commitment mirrors our schools vision for learning. The Townsville Grammar School motto, Bonus Intra Melior Exi (enter good, exit better), guides our philosophy. For us, reconciliation means respectfully educating children, families, and staff about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages, as well as the true histories and ongoing impacts since colonisation. We are committed to being accountable in ensuring sustainable reconciliation that is meaningfully embedded within every aspect of our community. This includes connecting with other schools and engaging with dance performances from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups, strengthening cultural appreciation and shared experiences across our wider learning community.
