VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation at Story House Early Learning Keilor Downs is to be a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and non-Indigenous peoples come together in unity to support opportunities for a just, equal and equitable society.  We see reconciliation as an opportunity to unite our community with knowledge to respect all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories and cultures. As a centre we provide authentic and respectful opportunities for educators, families and children to deepen their knowledge of First Nation peoples histories and cultures. This will be evident by the strong reciprocal connections we will create and maintain with local First Nations peoples and organisations built on mutual trust and respect. As educators we will learn to listen more deeply to First Nations peoples and consider the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) within our program planning and daily practices. We are committed to including the voices and perspectives of First Nations peoples at the forefront of our decision making. We are now focusing on developing a centre-wide approach to reconciliation ensuring everyone is seen, heard and valued.
