VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Metella Road Out of School Hours Child Care, our vision for reconciliation is to build a future where reconciliation is meaningfully and respectfully embedded in every aspect of our service.  We are committed to creating an inclusive, culturally safe, and respectful environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are not only acknowledged, but deeply valued by all. We envision reconciliation as a journey of genuine partnership, mutual respect, and shared understanding between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community.  Through ongoing education, meaningful engagement, and intentional action, we empower our children, families, and educators to contribute to a reconciled Australia, one where the true histories, rights, and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised, honoured, and central to our practice. Our commitment to reconciliation also includes fostering cultural responsiveness among our educators.  We are dedicated to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and every child and family feels respected, seen, and heard.  Through targeted professional development, reflective practice, and community relationships, our educators are equipped with the knowledge, cultural understanding, and sensitivity needed to respectfully and meaningfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples diverse perspectives within our curriculum.  We actively promote cross-cultural communication and collaboration to respectfully create enriching learning experiences that honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing. This ongoing commitment ensures that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all children have equal and equitable opportunities to grow, thrive, and succeed in a learning environment that truly reflects the diversity and richness of the world around them.
