VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Waterfall Public School envisions a future where reconciliation is woven into the fabric of our school community, embracing respect, relationships, and opportunities that honour and uplift Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives. We aim to foster a learning environment where students, staff, and families deepen their understanding of the cultural heritages of the Land on which we learn, acknowledging the enduring contributions of the Dharawal speaking peoples. Our school is committed to providing and budgeting for meaningful opportunities for all students to learn directly from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, valuing collaborative experiences that bring traditional knowledge and perspectives into our classrooms. We strive to create inclusive spaces that visibly respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and celebrate diversity. By encouraging all staff to engage in ongoing cultural responsiveness training, we strengthen our collective commitment to reconciliation. Through continuous reflection and growth, Waterfall Public School will lead with open hearts and minds, embracing a shared journey towards a unified future where respect, understanding, and mutual support empower every member of our community to contribute to reconciliation between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
