VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is an inclusive, culturally respectful environment where children, families, educators, and communities engage with, and respect, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. We are committed to truth-telling, listening deeply, challenging unconscious biases, and fostering empathy for people, place, and Country. Reconciliation is central to our Kindergarten philosophy, guiding our practices, planning, reflections and relationships unique to our context.

We envision a reconciled Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and cultures are deeply integrated into all aspects of life. We acknowledge the ongoing wisdom and connections to Country held by First Nations peoples for a millennium that form the foundations of kinship with the land, sea, sky and each other. We aspire to a respectful future where healing takes precedence, and social justice guides our collective actions to live harmoniously with people and place.

We believe reconciliation is a continuous journey that requires collective effort and accountability. We are committed to teaching and learning with the connectedness of the past, present and future, moving forward with empathy, and creating communities where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to contribute to a united future.
