At Goodstart Toowoomba - Spring Street we recognise that we are situated on Barunggam Land. We aim to maintain positive two-way relationships between children, staff, families, and our wider community particularly the Jarowair, Giabal and Wakka Wakka peoples based on mutual respect and understanding and clear communication. We believe that by teaching all children, families, educators and the wider community about First Nations peoples’ cultures, histories, and connections to Country, everyone learns to respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ long history as the First Nations people of Australia: First Discovers, First Scientists, First doctors and First Artists. We do this by, where appropriate and permitted, share our learnings, making a genuine effort to connect ourselves and our children to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s and perspectives. We value and respect the Rights of Indigenous Peoples by teaching all children and theirfamilies of the true history of Australia, showing respect for Land, People and Culture of First Nations Australia.
