Here at Westernport Child Care Centre & Kindergarten Hastings, we have a vision for reconciliation. To us, reconciliation means strengthening the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. We see reconciliation as a sign of our respect for the rights of all Australians to have equal rights, positive change and bright futures. Reconciliation to us is a continuous journey, not something that will happen overnight. We advocate for equality and equity, historical acceptance, healing and unity through making forward steps in our reconciliation journey. At its heart, reconciliation is about coming together. We are committed to building new relationships, and extending current relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and to further embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our practices and our early childhood teachings- creating a shared place that ensures equal opportunities for all people. Reconciliation in an ongoing and continuous journey that we continue on together with our community.
