VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation begins with our commitment to build and strengthen connections and relationships between our preschool and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We particularly seek to further our relationship with the Dharug and Gundangarra people, the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our preschool lies.

We believe that reconciliation means bringing people together, building trust, moving forward, building a brighter future, and honesty. It is our vision that the children, families and educators who are part of our preschool, learn and understand the true histories and cultures of First Nations peoples from their perspectives. Through understanding and respectful approaches, we honour the oldest living cultures in the world.

Our vision for reconciliation ensures Preschool is a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are respected, valued and acknowledged, for the benefit all Australians.

Our vision brings us all together and continues to work and strive for equality and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, children, families and community.  Together we work to ensure the injustices of the past and present aren't repeated in the future and create a culturally safe and responsive space to continue to build respectful connections.

Our vision sees us all moving forward together as we create a place that is unified by a shared national identity. This means that sometimes difficult and honest conversations take place, but in a safe place built with trust, love, respect, and walking forward together.

Reconciliation must live in our hearts, our minds, and be shown through everything we do.  Our vision continues to be reflected and embedded through our philosophy, pedagogies, and our curriculum.

Our Statement of Commitment to Reconciliation and our Reconciliation Action Plan continue to grow and change as we walk forward together. We commit to walking and learning together for reconciliation.
