Gerringong Coastal Cottage Early Learning Centre recognises that reconciliation means working together as a community, establishing a solid foundation for mutually respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) acknowledges our responsibility and is a formal commitment to reconciliation as we strive towards a culturally responsive environment.
We will continue to acknowledge the unique place that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures hold in Australia and for the local Gerringong community, Dharawal Wodi Wodi Country. To us, a reconciled Australia looks and feels like a place that will continue to respectfully educate about the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and ongoing contributions, providing equal and equitable opportunities for children, families and educators in the local community.
Gerringong Coastal Cottage Early Learning Centre is committed to embedding and continuing our RAP, fostering meaningful connections with local Elders and First Nations community members and professionals. Through these partnerships, we strive to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and perspectives, ensuring they are respectfully integrated into our learning environment.
