At Wollongong City Community preschool, we acknowledge and respect the ongoing cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We endeavour to build and maintain respectful relationships with the First Nations community, promoting reconciliation at our preschool and in the local community. Our vision for reconciliation is for educators to hold deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures and histories through connecting with families, the wider community, and ongoing professional learning opportunities. We recognise the importance of engaging in meaningful and appropriate ways to educate children, educators, and families about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures, perspectives, and histories. We promote an understanding of First Nations peoples’ connections to Country and Land through our daily routines and discussions with children. We recognise our RAP is a working and evolving document, which will continue to involve the voices of all stakeholders as we advocate and promote to seek understanding of the importance of reconciliation.
