VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Siena Catholic College, we respectfully acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people as the Traditional Custodians of the Ancestral Country and waterways upon which our school is built. We pay respect to Elders past, present, and emerging, whose culture and customs have nurtured this Country and continue to play a valued and important role in our holistic education.

As a College that is inspired by the Dominican charism, our vision for reconciliation is for all students to feel empowered and brave. We continue to raise awareness of, and incorporate, First Nations perspectives throughout our school environments and foster reciprocal relationships, encouraging a sense of belonging for all.

We strive to walk together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and respect the diversity of First Nations histories, cultures and perspectives. We will continue to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives in our curriculums and daily practices, providing culturally responsive and inclusive environments for learning. We will continue providing opportunities to deepen staff and students’ knowledge and understanding about reconciliation, fostering respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We will continue to develop our awareness of what reconciliation in education means to us, ensuring equity and equality are included in all educational outcomes for all students. We recognise our shared histories and commit to working towards a future in which all people are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
