At Kerrimuir Primary School, we believe that through education, all students, educators, teachers, families, and the wider community can learn and value the cultures and perspectives of First Nations Peoples. As a school, we acknowledge that teaching and learning has been a part of our school's site and community for thousands of years, and our vision is to continue this wonderful tradition of education. As a place of learning, we take responsibility for teaching and empowering the next generations to continue breaking down the barriers that have affected true reconciliation.Â
We are committed to the fostering of respect and understanding of the deep cultures, knowledge, and histories of the First Nations Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge that for First Nations Peoples in Australia, the right to teach, learn, and thrive within their cultures has been marred by generations of hurt. Reconciliation is an essential step to healing and strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples and is the responsibility of all Australians.
