VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Inspired by the courage of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart and grounded in our Josephite tradition, we at Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College commit to walking alongside First Nations peoples in a spirit of truth, healing, and hope.

We recognise the deep injustices of the past and present, and we strive to build a future where reconciliation is lived through relationships, education, and respectful action. With hearts open to listening and learning, we honour the wisdom, resilience, and spiritual strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In living out our College motto, Virtue and Courage, we pledge to:

Acknowledge the truth of our shared history, including the dispossession and trauma endured by First Nations peoples.

Respect and celebrate the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, languages, and spiritual connection to Country.

Build relationships grounded in trust, mutual respect, and humility with First Nations communities and Elders.

Educate our community through inclusive and truthful teaching of Australian history and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

Advocate for equity, justice, and opportunities for First Nations peoples within our school and society.

Act in solidarity through listening, reflection, and culturally responsive practices that foster a reconciled and flourishing Australia.

We walk this path together, united in the belief that reconciliation is not a moment but a shared journey of deep listening, meaningful action, and enduring hope.
