To us, reconciliation means to learn from the past. Previous occurrences must drive a more committed outlook and attitude towards healing and inclusivity. What is done now will shape the future.
Maclean High School is committed to ensuring reconciliation as an ongoing process involving staff, students, Yaegl Aboriginal Elders, and the wider community across all facets of our school.
We build and maintain inclusive and genuine relationships with the Yaegl community and all communities that reside on Yaegl Country. Our ongoing partnerships with Yaegl Elders form the foundation of our commitment to reconciliation through education and the incorporation of the Yaegl perspective in our curriculum.
We strive for the students who leave our school and join other communities to do so with the knowledge and a lifelong understanding of reconciliation that is derived from community projects and an ongoing relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the community, in the classroom and on Country.
