VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Bangor Public Schools vision for reconciliation is to create a respectful and collaborative community of key stakeholders, including students, teachers, parents, Elders, First Nations community members and members of the wider community, who work together to promote and initiate positive change. Through these respectful relationships we aim to create an educational environment where truth telling and acknowledgement of the past leads to working together to move forward and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges and cultures.          Bangor Public School will continue to value and respect the cultures, knowledges and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as we work to authentically engage all students at our school in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. Reconciliation in education is an ongoing journey embedded into our everyday classroom practices. We will continue to connect with Elders and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve our understanding and follow and learn protocols that will continue to improve the understanding of all staff and students.       We recognise that everyone plays a part in reconciliation, and we understand the importance of authenticity, local connections, community input and strong partnerships in achieving reconciliation. We will continue to consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, reflect and continue to work towards improving our policies, procedures and practices.
