At Western Autistic School OSHC, we are committed to a vision for reconciliation that is respectful, inclusive and meaningful for our children, families and educators. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations custodians of the Land and recognise their ongoing connections to Country, culture and community. Â Â Â Guided by the Department of Educations Aboriginal Education Plan (2016-2026) and in line with the work of the schools First Nations Collaborations group, our vision is to create a culturally safe OSHC environment where First Nations children feel a strong sense of belonging. We are committed to aligning our everyday practices with statewide initiatives and strengthening systems that support First Nations peoples self-determination, inclusion and equal and equitable access to learning and care outcomes and opportunities. Â Â Â In our OSHC setting, reconciliation means embedding respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures into daily routines, relationships and play-based experiences in ways that are accessible, sensory-aware and responsive to the diverse needs of autistic children. We value collaboration with families and community, ongoing educator learning, and reflective practice to ensure our actions are informed, authentic and sustainable. Â Â We recognise reconciliation as a continuous journey. Through listening, learning and meaningful action, Western Autistic School OSHC is committed to building understanding, respect and strong relationships with First Nations peoples now and into the future.
