VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Monash Special Developmental School, our vision for reconciliation is a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and contributions are deeply respected, acknowledged, and celebrated by all.

We believe reconciliation is about creating a shared journey—one built on respect, truth, and the strength of relationships. As a learning community, we are committed to nurturing a culturally inclusive environment where every student, staff member, and family feels seen, safe, and valued.

At Monash SDS, we recognise the importance of listening to and learning from First Nations peoples. We honour the knowledge, resilience, and custodianship of the Land by the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, on whose Country we live, learn, and grow. We are dedicated to weaving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our teaching, learning, and daily practices in ways that are accessible, meaningful, and empowering for our students.

Reconciliation motivates us to model kindness, inclusion, and understanding. Through education and collaboration, we aim to contribute to a future where equity and unity are at the heart of every community. Our students—each with unique strengths and abilities—are at the centre of this journey, and we are proud to support them as respectful, informed citizens of an Australia strengthened by its First Nations peoples.
