VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At LEAD Childcare Southport we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and shared learning as we walk the path of reconciliation. Our vision for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is to create a meaningful and lasting impact by respectfully embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives into all aspects of our service, ensuring that reconciliation is not just symbolic, but actively lived through our daily practices, interactions, and learning environments. We strive to cultivate strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, listening, learning, and collaborating to ensure that our approach is authentic, respectful, and reflective of the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations peoples. Through storytelling, art, language, and culturally responsive programming, we aim to create spaces where children and families feel connected to the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ heritages . Education plays a powerful role in reconciliation, and we are dedicated to empowering our educators with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing into our daily practices and routines. By embedding these perspectives into our curriculum, we foster understanding, appreciation, and meaningful engagement, ensuring that all children grow up with a strong awareness of cultural identity, inclusion and reconciliation. Above all, our RAP is a commitment to ongoing reflection, learning, and action, recognizing that reconciliation is a continuous journey rather than a destination. Through respectful relationships, intentional practices, and a genuine desire to create change, we strive to be a service that champions reconciliation and nurtures a future built on unity, respect, and shared knowledge. As educators, we commit to fostering a space that embraces cultural understanding, inclusion, and reconciliation. We acknowledge the importance of learning from First Nations perspectives and embedding them into our practices with authenticity and respect.
