MindChamps Shellharbour acknowledges and values the cultural histories, heritages, traditions, and continuing contributions of the local Dharawal community, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We aim to provide a welcoming environment, culturally safe and equitable place for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and community members. We will achieve this by continually reflecting on and creating educational programs and practices that respect and foster reconciliation, and by building and maintaining meaningful connections and relationships with local First Nations community members, educators and families.
We commit to ongoing professional learning and the development of cultural responsiveness, in order to recognise any personal biases and ways to redress any negative behaviours or opinions that we may have unconsciously held or displayed.
Our vision is to contribute to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a sense of belonging and where strong connections with the service community are fostered.
