Fun Club @ Lakelands acknowledges the importance of all Australians having the opportunity to learn about the cultures, histories and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together, we strive to involve educators, children, families, and wider community to come together to learn about, and recognise, the challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have, and continue to, overcome since colonisation and the strength and resilience of First Nations peoples.
We recognise the importance of caring for Country and are committed to guiding people who enter our service to know about the importance of the environment and the connections the Land holds within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories. We are committed to continuing to build strong relationships within the local First Nations community by extending opportunities to learn about the Country and the connections that are formed through Country. We continue to provide opportunities for learning about and understanding the diversity that exists within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We continue to commit to acknowledging and sharing the true histories of Australia, supporting the wider community to develop their knowledge of, and respect for, the cultures and the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the local community.
We acknowledge that this will be an ongoing journey of learning and recognise the importance of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within our service to continue to fostering relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures. We are committed to respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives meaningfully within our practices and our environment
