At Story House Early Learning Doreen, our vision for reconciliation is to for all to acknowledge and the cultures, histories, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As educators, we are committed to fostering an environment where our community develops a deep understanding and knowledge of, and respect for, the cultural heritages and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We believe reconciliation is about bridging the gap in equity and equality in educational and wellbeing outcomes and opportunities between non-Indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At Story House Early Learning, we are dedicated to providing equal and equitable educational and wellbeing outcomes and opportunities for all children and their families. Our diverse team values and respects the unique perspectives of all families and works in partnership to advance reconciliation.

We are committed to creating opportunities for both staff and children to connect with the local First Nations community through incursions, excursions, and ongoing engagement. By building mutually respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, we strive to deepen our collective understanding and appreciation of their cultures and histories.

We recognise the importance of using respectful and inclusive language and are continuously learning to embed this practice within our centre, strengthening our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our team remains dedicated to maintaining a culturally responsive service by collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as our wider community and stakeholders. This ensures we provide high-quality care that is equally and equitably accessible to all children and families.
