Aspire out of school hours centre believes in building and maintaining meaningful, ongoing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - in particular the Dharawal people and their Land on which service is built. This is essential to supporting our service vision to provide children with the opportunity to gain knowledge about Australia’s First Peoples.
Aspire out of school hours believes reconciliation is about building strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We can achieve this by continuing to build and develop meaningful relationships within our community, attending ongoing professional development and educating children and families about the importance of cultural awareness and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives.
Engaging and building children, staff, families and the wider community's knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultural, believes and practices by incorporating and embedding important events into our program and our activities thorough the year, Aspire OSHC will encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to mentor and guide our learning and teaching about Australian's First People.
Aspire out of school hours acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land and their ongoing connection with Country, in particular Dharawal people. We will continue our Reconciliation Action Plan and will ensure that Aspire will create a culturally safe space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and staff feel safe, respected and valued.
Aspire Out of School Hours will ensure staff have the skills, knowledge and understanding to work positively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
