VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Together, we walk towards reconciliation with open hearts, open minds, and a commitment to learning from and with First Nations peoples. At Sparrow Early Learning Alamanda, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and learning that acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and perspectives. We recognise that our service is located on the Lands of the Wadawurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, acknowledging the enduring role that First Nations peoples play in shaping the local community.   Our vision for reconciliation is a learning environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and educators feel respected and represented. We strive to embed First Nations peoples’ perspectives meaningfully into our curriculum, ensuring that all children develop an understanding of, and respect for, the rich histories, knowledges, and ongoing contributions of the world’s oldest living cultures. Through critical reflection, co-constructed learning, and an open-ended approach to pedagogy, we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging and connection for all children. Sustainability, cultural integrity, and inclusivity are at the heart of our practices, and we commit to working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to build genuine, reciprocal relationships.  Through our RAP we will promote the inclusion of appropriate and relevant resources that will improve cross cultural awareness and understanding to strengthen engagement with all children, families and community members in all our early learning programs using the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity and historical acceptance.
