Springwood Kids Early Learning Centre

Springwood Kids Early Learning Centre's vision for reconciliation is to encourage a culture of inclusion where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and their histories, Languages, cultures and ways of knowing are respected and valued everyday, through shared partnerships between children, families, educators and the local community. We will support educators and children in deepening their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in building a culture of mutual respect and reconciliation.  

We actively support recognition as a journey to healing. We will support Educators by providing opportunities to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Australia's First Nations peoples, histories, cultures and perspectives. We will endeavour to engage children in developing an understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia.  As a centre, we are striving to explore and embed significant learning amongst one another, and with our children, communities and families that delves more deeply in understanding authentic implementation of First Nations cultural knowledge, experience, stories and traditions within our teachings and practice. Traditional First Nation language and storytelling is an integral part of our journey to achieving authentic and true implementations and developments of First nations cultural understandings. This will be achieved through further developing our connections within our community of local Elders and Traditional Custodians, to truly envelop and develop our knowledge with real and true teachings of culture. 

We are always on Country - we are always in a place with both First Nations and colonial histories and we need to understand this to pursue reconciliation through equity, equality, sovereignty and treaty. Our Centre envisions an inclusive society that embraces and celebrates cultural diversity especially that of Australia's First People.
