VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The rich histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples should be acknowledged and explored in ways that are respectful, genuine, and purposeful. We are committed to providing meaningful educational opportunities for children, educators, and families to learn about and engage with the rich histories and continuing contributions of First Peoples of Australia, in particular, the Turrbal people. We are committed to ensuring that our practices are consistent and respectful by connecting with the local Elders and community members. Embedding truly meaningful reconciliation practices within our service is an important element for us. We have committed to continually creating and implementing our Reconciliation Action Plan to guide and ultimately support educators, children, and families to be a part of a community that ensures there are equal and equitable educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will consistently work towards building a culture where the team is culturally responsive, knowledgeable, and committed to furthering the goals of the Reconciliation Action Plan - truly embracing the vision we have.  Our vision includes respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspectives, experiences, and heritages in our service through developing partnerships for ongoing learning opportunities for children who attend the services, conducted in collaboration with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  Reconciliation means more than just crossing off an item on a list. At Little Ducks reconciliation is about bringing the true histories of the First Peoples of Australia to the hearts and minds of the future generations and sharing our knowledge and experiences of reconciliation with all.  We would like to do more than celebrating the major events with regards to the First Nation people's  perspective and embed culturally safe practices in all our routines and learning.
